IT might have been all in a day's work
for a member of the Navy Reser ve,
but for 21 civilian super visors, a visit
to HMAS Bathurst provided a taste of
the action their employees regularly
experience when on reserve service.
Exercise Boss Lift is designed to
give employers of reservists valuable
insight into reser ve ser vice. Boss Lift
participants were taken on an in-depth
tour of Bathurst and spent time on
Bathurst's two jet-powered RHIBs.
General Manager Tamworth
Regional Council Paul Bennet said the
Boss Lift experience was fascinating.
"With staff of more than 500
people, the Tamworth Council has
often employed up to a dozen reser v-
ists within its ranks, and even though
we're nowhere near the ocean we've
even had Navy members from time to
time" he said.
"I've consistently found that
reser vists bring back to their day jobs
a personal pride, a strong teamwork
ethos and leadership skills that we
could only hope to impart and benefit
from as an employer."
