QUESTIONS were coming thick
and fast at HMAS Penguin (CMDR
Gavin Baker) when the wardroom
held a trivia night to raise money
for the Navy Variety Bash team
To add to festivities, each table
was allocated a decade theme for
fashion, which produced some out-

really good job raising money and

Multi-national team to
take over in Uruzgan
DUTCH forces departing Uruzgan
Province, Afghanistan, in August will
be replaced by a US-led multi-national
'Combined Team -- Uruzgan'.
Both Singapore and Slovakia will be
part of the new organisation.

'Team Nigel' fundraising
in Perth City to Surf
'TEAM Nigel' will be hitting the streets
of Perth in August to try and raise

In memory of RADM Nigel Coates,
LCDR Simone Franklin, LS Kerry
Cousins and AB Nicholas Kelleher will
be running in the Perth City to Surf on

the Cure for Life Foundation was the
largest active fundraiser for brain tumour
research awareness in Australia and the
Admiral's former staff wanted to make a
donation in his honour.
"RADM Coates often challenged
us in our daily business and the team
wanted to make a donation to the founda-
tion, but that would have been too easy,"
LCDR Franklin said.
"We are challenging ourselves to run
the 12km course and hope to raise $5000
along the way."

Kokoda Track gets a
ONE of Australia's most important bat-
tlefields will continue to prosper with
an agreement between the governments
of Australia and Papua New Guinea,

Abal, co-signed the Second Joint
Understanding on the Kokoda Track,
Owen Stanley Ranges and Brown River
Minister for Environment Protection,
Heritage and the Arts, Peter Garrett, said
following on from the first agreement,
signed in 2008, they would continue to
fund projects promoting preservation of
significant sites, while improving the
lives of local communities.
This understanding will continue to
protect Kokoda's special values and will
also improve the lives of local communi-
ties by providing access to the potential
economic benefits arising from the devel-
opment of renewable resources including
hydropower, water and tourism.
AHS annual Education

Commemoration for River
RIVER class frigates will be remem-
bered with the dedication of a plaque at
the Garden Island Heritage Centre later
this year, if funding is approved by the
Department of Veterans' Affairs.
